ITA-ITILES PREPARES FOR THE FUTURE WITH SACMI AUTOMATION

Installation of a new kiln, larger and with higher output than its predecessor, and a complete set of laser-guided storage systems from glazing to sorting. The Fiorano Modenese company, which now addresses the market with a renewed brand, “I.TILES born in Maranello”, has thus completed, in association with SACMI, the first step in an ambitious investment plan focused on quality and production efficiency ITA-ITILES prepares for the future with SACMI by completing an ambitious project as a step towards total process automation. The key item supplied is the new SACMI kiln, a high-performance model with production capacity of over 10 thousand m2 a day, equipped with the latest heat recovery systems. A complete revolution for ITA Ceramiche, embracing all the handling systems upstream and downstream of the firing system. In fact, with the new installation, all pieces leaving the glazing line for the new kiln are transported on LGVs (laser guided vehicles) supplied by SACMI. The automated storage systems will enable full use of the greater production capacity of the new kiln, 117 metres long and with a working width of 2,950 mm. Kiln loading and unloading is also automated with automatic rack filling and emptying machines which place the pieces on downstream LGVs heading for the sorting and rectification lines, configured to process 16 thousand m2/day. SACMI has designed the new lines supplied – each equipped with 7 stackers – in response to the production demand from the clientele, which alongside the familiar 320×320 mm size now also covers a large mix of products, comprising the 170×620, 220×900, 200×1200, 300×600, 600×600, 600×1200, 450×450, 200×400 and 200×200 sizes and even 900×900, which will go into production by the end of May 2021. “This investment undertaken with SACMI,” comments the Chairman of ITA Ceramiche, Andrea Spagni, “enables us to pursue two aims: both to further improve the quality of our products and to extend the versatility and flexibility of the 6 press-glazing lines, developing new products to win more customers in the market sectors with the highest added value.” The increase in production is estimated at 5 thousand m2 per day, bringing the total to 24 thousand m2. “In 2022 we will proceed with the second stage of the project, involving the total renewal of the handling systems serving the other two kilns, with the replacement of the older of the two, thus raising output to over 29 thousand m2 a day.” Installation of a new kiln, larger and with higher output than its predecessor, and a complete set of laser-guided storage systems from glazing to sorting.
